Powder Heaven

It has been a long wait...but finally some epic skiing in fantastic conditions. Nelson has been lacking the usual excitement that is so normal in this ski town, typically known for the consistent powder skiing and fantastic backcountry skiing accessed so easily from a great mountain resort.
This year there has been a lack of snow and the buzz of this ski town has been lacking as everyone gears up for spring. So it may have come late but it is great to see beaming faces across the mountain as the town makes the most of this late snowfall before spring really kicks in.

Over the last few days we have enjoyed some great hiking and skiing in Five Mile Basin. Only 25 minutes hike from the resort Five Mile has some great tree runs which we enjoyed in waist deep powder. Yesterday the sun came out giving us a great opportunity to get up into the alpine for some fresh perspective, great views and a fantastic run from the alpine back into the resort. Unfortunately we were too busy enjoying the skiing to get any action shots but here are a couple of the hike...
